Thomas Cromwell trilogy – Hillary Mantel It is written as a spy novel but based on very solidly researched historical facts and giving fascinating insights into the Tudor court era and the self-made career of Cromwell, who rose from son of a blacksmith to become Henry VIII’s almighty chief intelligence officer.
