What are the colleagues on site missing?” These and other questions were posed by Paul Weinrich to the employees of the Atelier de Joigny. During his six-month assignment at our maintenance workshop in France, he was able to support many sub-projects within the framework of lean management and carried out a needs analysis at the beginning.
Wishes that were frequently presented to him were the need for new furniture, more efficient use of office space, and the need for more meeting rooms in the administration.
It also became clear in the discussions that in some cases archives or even documentation in cupboards are no longer necessary. Through targeted tidying, secure shredding and a change in seating arrangements, three new meeting spaces could be created.
At the same time, various desks that were no longer needed, as well as other furniture, were being sorted out as part of the remodeling work at the VTG Center in Hamburg. This gave Paul the idea of using this opportunity for Joigny.
In consultation with AAC-F, he organized the transport by truck together with colleagues from Projekt Logistics in Bad Homburg.
“Together, we were able to equip the employees in Joigny with 30 new tables (some of them electric), 12 mobile pedestals and additional meeting tables. The positive feedback from colleagues shows me how important it is that we also live sustainability internally,” Paul reports. “Of course, the electric tables were in high demand, so there was an open discussion about who would get a new table to ensure a fair distribution. We were also able to make the old furniture that was no longer needed available to employees for private use.”
Paul will return to Hamburg at the end of November after a great time and lots of new experiences. The lean projects will then be continued by a new colleague at the workshop.
