As part of our collaboration with our technology partner Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Sven and Ralf recently traveled to India. In this interview, they share exciting insights, moving moments, and what the partnership with TCS means for VTG.

Sven, what was the reason for your trip?

Sven:
We accepted TCS’s invitation to visit India in order to further strengthen our close cooperation – an important sign of our active partnership. TCS has visited us in Hamburg several times, so now it was our turn to return the favor.

One highlight was the grand opening of our Offshore Delivery Center (ODC) in Mumbai. TCS teams work there for VTG in a modern office complex – an important milestone in our digital transformation.

What topics were the focus?

Ralf:
In addition to the ODC opening, there was a status update on ongoing projects and an intensive knowledge transfer – for example, on our S/4 HANA pilot project with exciting insights into IoT and artificial intelligence.

The visit to the TCS campus in Chennai, where around 45,000 employees work, was particularly impressive. We also visited the ODC of SBB (CH) with over 100 TCS consultants and the ADC (Advanced DC) of Air France KLM (with over 700 consultants). In addition, we honored outstanding TCS colleagues for their achievements – a moving moment full of appreciation.

How does TCS specifically support VTG in its transformation?

Sven:
TCS is our global partner for topics such as SAP and Microsoft. In the SAP environment, we will be relying on S/4HANA in the future. To do this, we need expertise and scaling power – and TCS offers both. Our internal SAP experts design the architecture, while TCS highly qualified specialists take care of implementation and operation.

What’s important to me is that it’s not about “buying cheap,” but about long-term cooperation on an equal footing. TCS also supports us with expertise and capacity in the Microsoft environment (Dynamics 365).

How does VTG benefit from this partnership?

Ralf:
TCS works in partnership, documents and standardizes—this makes us more efficient and scalable. We benefit from a reliable, globally positioned partner that grows with us and actively shapes the digital transformation.

And your personal highlight?

Sven:
Definitely the people. In India, “the guest is king” – we felt that in every encounter. We were warmly welcomed, had many honest conversations, and experienced great hospitality.

India is full of contrasts – on any given street, you can see everything from street vendors selling half a bunch of bananas to office complexes reminiscent of Silicon Valley. And yes, the cell towers sometimes look chaotic – but the network coverage is often better than in Germany!

Conclusion:

The visit was a complete success—both professionally and personally. It demonstrated how vibrant and valuable our partnership with TCS is and how much potential our shared future holds.
