Continuous improvement begins with clarity
Change is not an end in itself. As part of our FOCUS strategy, we want to design our production processes so that they are stable, efficient, and sustainable. This means questioning tried-and-tested methods, analyzing processes, identifying bottlenecks, and working together to find new solutions. The rule here is: stabilize first, then optimize. After all, you won’t get very far if you build on shaky foundations.
A good example of this is the redesign of the underframe assembly at Waggonbau Graaff. What began with the relocation of the brake frame welding assembly developed into a prime example of successful change. Not only were transport routes shortened (by over 135 km/year!), but the assembly processes were also reorganized – moving away from the production island and toward a modern production line. This success was only possible thanks to the commitment of many colleagues.
