Nearly one year ago – in December 2024 – the Rail Connect Lounge at Nagelsweg was officially opened. Our colleagues from Facility Management put a great deal of dedication into creating this special space and presenting it to all employees (Break room opened at Nagelsweg). Since then, the lounge has become an integral part of everyday office life in Hamburg: a place to eat together, connect, and recharge.

820 kilograms of coffee beans later …

… the numbers speak for themselves: In just twelve months, around 90,000 cups of coffee and 7,000 bags of tea were consumed. One thing’s clear: the Hamburg site is definitely Team Coffee!

Good thing – because what we serve is “Café Intentional”, a sustainably grown coffee that not only wakes you up but also leaves you with a good feeling.

90,000

cups of coffee

is what we’ve enjoyed in one year of the Rail Connect Lounge

But the Rail Connect Lounge offers much more than just caffeine: With 86 seats, it has become a hotspot for lunch breaks, short time-outs, and lively conversations among colleagues. On the culinary side, the smart fridge chillmahl now complements the offering — with freshly prepared meals, snacks, and fresh fruit and vegetables every day (more on VIBES!). And the best part: even after the move, the lounge will stay with us, because the furniture is coming along.

One year of Rail Connect Lounge shows: a good space creates good encounters. Here’s to many more breaks, conversations, and cups of coffee! ☕️

„The lounge has turned out really well – it is a great change of scenery from the office and a fantastic place to connect with colleagues.“

Markus Heischmann and André Sebrowski

“What I especially love about the lounge is its relaxed, almost family‑like atmosphere. It’s simply a lovely place to spend your lunch break with a larger group, enjoy a meal together, and meet colleagues from all kinds of different departments.”

Nele Lenz
