Unleashing potential with PEP!

Continuing education and personnel development are important issues for VTG. One example is developing the potential of up-and-coming experts , project leaders and managers. The next PEP! program will be starting in November – but with some new features.

Once November rolls around, the new PEP! participants will gather for their first training at the conference hotel. After an intense selection process, 15 of the 20 aspiring project managers, experts and managers who had been nominated for the program have ultimately received the green light. Now they will go through a development program that will last almost two years and include six mandatory two-day modules, such as on personality development and new ways of working. On the other hand, each of the employees that was not selected to participate in the PEP! program will receive a personalized development plan so that they, too, can continue to develop.

“This year, in addition to launching a new program cycle, we have also revised the selection process and the content of the program,”
Lennart Villinger, Consultant Human Resources Development

“Besides having a new provider for the selection process, we have more real-world tasks in the assessment center. And the nomination process has changed, as well. Employees used to be able to nominate themselves or be nominated by a manager. But now the manager and employee must jointly submit the nomination.” Optional components are also new. For example, the program now includes trainings on project management and intercultural skills, a mentoring program with a personal adviser, and a dedicated Teams channel for exchanging ideas and experiences. After successfully completing the program and delivering a final presentation, participants will receive a certificate – and be well prepared for future challenges.

“I’m looking forward to learning how to improve my weaknesses and use my strengths to apply them in interdisciplinary tasks.”
Mercedes Mañon, Process and Technical Development Engineer

More development potential for all

PEP! is just one of many opportunities for professional development at VTG. “In addition to the offerings of the VTG Academy – which consist of internal trainings, seminars and coaching – we also offer personalized development plans and team workshops, and employees can attend external trainings, too,” says Christine Ruhnke, HR Development. Anyone can sign up for these offerings with the approval of their direct supervisor.

“Before the assessment center, I wondered how my personal assessment would look like based on just one day – especially in comparison to colleagues and superiors who have known me for a much longer period of time. I found it very interesting that the evaluation is reflected after all, even in my personal evaluation.”
Janek Schubert, Business Analyst / Leasing Expert
“My anticipation for PEP! has already increased with the assessment center, because we had a lot of fun in addition to the intensive tasks. I am especially looking forward to the opportunities to exchange ideas with familiar and new faces. The diversity of participants will broaden my horizons and help me personally contribute to VTG’s transformation.”
Hauke Friedrichsen, Business Controller AS Bulk
